Abstract

|
An attempt was made to observe the plasmacytogensesis in the spleen of rats shortly after the whole body X-irradiation. Albino rats were used, and their spleens were examined 12, 36, 48 and 72 hours after whole body X-irradiation(400R). The cells in a portion of area of proliferation of pyroninophilic cells observed by light microscopy were observed by electron microscopy a series of transformed cells from the orginal cell to mature plasma cell.
The results were as follows:
In the area of proliferation of pyroninophilic cells by light microscopy in the spleens, mature reticular cells, intermediate forms between reticular cell and transitional cell, transitional cells, proplasmacytes and mature plasmacytes were observed in electron microscopic examination.
